Hotel pickup
Air-conditioned car arrives at your Jaipur hotel. Your guide briefs you on the sanctuary backstory during the 25-minute drive toward the Aravalli edge.
Welcome + breakfast duty
Meet the on-duty mahout team, then chop sugarcane, bananas and jaggery with them. Introductions to each elephant — names, ages, rescue stories.
Feeding session
Hand-feed the herd as they wake up. Watch how each elephant accepts food differently — Lakshmi is enthusiastic, Champa is delicate.
Forehead painting
A mahout shows you the traditional herbal-pigment painting ritual. Champa is the artist of the group — she paints visitor foreheads too, slowly and deliberately.
Forest walk
Walk beside the elephants (never on them) along the shaded sanctuary trail. The mahouts translate every ear-flap and trumpet for you.
Pond bath
Bucket-and-brush at the pond edge. You will get soaked — Priya will make sure of it. Bring a change of clothes. This is the part everyone remembers.
Chai & stories
Masala chai and fresh roti with the mahout families — three generations of elephant keepers. Ask them anything.
Drive back
Drop at your hotel by ~10:15 AM, in time for a full sightseeing day. Optional add-on: continue to Amber Fort ($25 extra).

How long is the Sanctuary Morning, door to door?
About 3 hours. Pickup from your Jaipur hotel around 7:00 AM, a 25-minute drive to the sanctuary, roughly two hours on-site (feeding, forest walk, pond bath, chai), and you're back at your hotel by around 10:15 AM — in time for a full sightseeing day.
Can children join?
Yes — minimum age 4, and kids 4-12 pay half price ($29.50 / ₹2,450). Priya, the matriarch, is exceptionally gentle with children. Bring a change of clothes; the pond session soaks everyone.
