Why book this tour

3 safaris, not 2

Most operators sell '2 nights + 2 safaris'. We do 2 nights + 3 safaris. The 3rd safari (Day 3 morning) doubles your odds of a tiger sighting before driving back to Jaipur.

Best zones booked first

Ranthambore has 10 zones. Zones 1-5 are the tiger zones (90% of sightings). We book Zone 1-5 permits 90 days in advance — turn up late and you'll get Zone 8-10 which is mostly birds.

Forest-edge lodge

Not a hotel in town. A lodge on the park boundary where you'll hear barking deer and peacocks from your room. Pool, gardens, all the comfort, none of the disconnection.

Ranthambore is one of India's best tiger reserves — and the easiest to access from the Golden Triangle circuit. The park has 70+ Bengal tigers across 1,300 sq km, with some 'star' tigers (Arrowhead, Noor, Riddhi) that are individually named and tracked. Most foreign travelers add Ranthambore as a 2-night side trip from Jaipur. This package is purpose-built for that.

Tiger sighting odds — the honest version

Three safaris in Zones 1-5: March-April-May: 80-90% chance of at least one tiger sighting. October-February: 60-70%. June-September: park closed for monsoon (don't come).

💡 Don't believe '99% guaranteed' operators: If a tour operator promises you'll see a tiger, they're lying. Ranthambore is a national park, not a zoo. We tell you the real odds based on 200+ trips. The package is worth it for the forest, the lodge, and the fort — even if the tiger doesn't show up.

Gypsy vs Canter — which to choose

Gypsy (6-seater open jeep) — better photos, more agile, can stop quickly when a tiger crosses. Standard in our package. Canter (20-seater truck) — cheaper (-$30/person), but you're sharing with 16 strangers and the views are restricted. We always book Gypsy unless you specifically request Canter.

Glimpses From The Journey

Your Questions, Answered

What's the realistic chance of seeing a tiger?

With 3 safaris in Zone 1-5: 80-90% in March-May, 60-70% in Oct-Feb. We don't promise — nobody honest does. But we maximize odds by booking the right zones and using Gypsies, not Canters.

Can I do just one safari?

Not really economical from Jaipur — by the time you drive 3.5 hours, do a safari, drive back, it's 12 exhausting hours and the odds with one safari are 30-40%. If 2 nights is too long, consider Jhalana Leopard Reserve right in Jaipur (1.5 hr safari, $95).

Which is better — morning or afternoon safari?

Morning has more bird activity and cooler temperatures. Afternoon has more tiger movement (they come to water in heat). Both have value. Our 3-safari package gives you 2 of one and 1 of the other to maximize coverage.

Can kids do the safari?

Yes — minimum age 4. Kids under 8 ride free in the Gypsy. We recommend morning safari for younger kids (animals more active). Bring binoculars.

What if it rains?

Park is closed July 1 - September 30 for monsoon. Outside that window, occasional rain in Oct/Mar — safaris still run, lodges provide ponchos. Sightings actually improve right after a rain shower.

What forest lodge will we stay at?

Default 4-star: Ranthambhore Regency or Tigress Resort — both forest-edge with pool, AC, English-speaking staff. 5-star upgrade: Sher Bagh by Sujan or Aman-i-Khas (Bill Gates stayed at Aman-i-Khas).

Can I combine this with the Golden Triangle?

Yes — and many do. See our 6-day Golden Triangle + Ranthambore package which includes everything from Delhi onward.

Is photography allowed?

Yes — DSLR/mirrorless with 200-400mm telephoto is ideal for tigers. Phone cameras work for general jungle scenes. Drones with prior permit only (+$50).
