Golden Triangle Tour: 4 Days, 3 Nights — The Most Popular Itinerary
The classic. One day in each city, one buffer day. The itinerary 7 out of 10 of our travelers choose — and the one we recommend if you're visiting India for the first time.
Why book this tour
The Goldilocks itinerary
Three is too rushed, six is too long for most. Four days hits the sweet spot — see everything important without feeling drained on the flight home.
Run by Jaipur locals
We live in Jaipur. Our drivers, guides, and customer service team are all based here. When something goes wrong (it rarely does), help is 20 minutes away — not in a call center 8 time zones away.
200+ trips, zero incidents
Every driver is background-verified. Every guide is UNESCO-trained and English-fluent. We've hosted travelers from 47 countries since 2010.
If you Google 'Golden Triangle Tour', you'll find a thousand operators selling some version of this trip. So why ours? Three things. One: we own the experience top to bottom — our team, our cars, our guides, no middlemen. Two: we live where you're traveling. We can call ahead to a haveli and say 'arrange the rooftop table for tonight, our American guests are coming'. Try doing that from an office in London. Three: we tell you the truth. Not every monument is worth your time. Not every restaurant is safe for first-time visitors. We'll be straight with you.
What makes this different from the $99 group tours?
Group tours profit from volume — 40 people in a coach, 3 hours at each monument, mandatory shopping stops where the operator earns 30% commission on every gemstone or carpet you buy. We don't run that model. Our tours are private (just your party), our pricing is transparent (no surprise charges), and we don't take you to a single shop unless you specifically ask.

Your Route
Day-by-Day Itinerary
Every day, every meal, every stop — planned by our team, customizable on request.
Old & New Delhi — Two Cities in One — Delhi
Arrive Delhi (assumed). Hotel check-in. After a refreshing welcome chai, we head to Old Delhi — a cycle-rickshaw ride through the spice and silver lanes of Chandni Chowk, a visit to Jama Masjid (climb the minaret for 360° views), and a photo stop at the Red Fort. Lunch at Karim's (famous since 1913). Afternoon: New Delhi — India Gate, the colonial-era government quarter, Humayun's Tomb (UNESCO, blueprint for the Taj), and the serene Lotus Temple. Evening at leisure. We can arrange a 'street food walk' in Connaught Place if you have energy left.
- Chandni Chowk rickshaw ride
- Jama Masjid minaret climb
- Humayun's Tomb sunset
- Optional street food walk
Drive to Agra & Mehtab Bagh Sunset — Delhi → Agra
Leisurely 8 AM checkout. Drive to Agra via the Yamuna Expressway (3 hrs — one of India's smoothest highways). Lunch on arrival at a rooftop restaurant with a Taj view (yes, that's a thing). Afternoon: visit Agra Fort — the Mughal seat of power before Delhi. Watch your guide point out the prison cell where Shah Jahan was kept by his own son, gazing at the Taj he'd built. Sunset at Mehtab Bagh — the 'Moonlight Garden' across the river. Most tours skip this. Don't. The Taj from the back, at sunset, with almost no crowds, is the photo you'll send your friends.
- Yamuna Expressway drive (3 hrs)
- Agra Fort with the Shah Jahan prison story
- Mehtab Bagh sunset view of Taj
Taj Mahal Sunrise & The Mughal Highway — Agra → Jaipur
5:00 AM pickup for sunrise at the Taj Mahal. The marble dome shifts from grey to pearl to gold over 90 minutes — bring a real camera, not just your phone. Your guide will share the love story, the architectural symbolism, and answer the question every traveler asks: 'is the Black Taj real?' Return to hotel for breakfast and rest. Mid-morning checkout. Drive to Jaipur (4-5 hrs) via Fatehpur Sikri — the abandoned 16th-century Mughal capital where you'll wander red sandstone palaces with almost no other tourists. Late afternoon arrival in Jaipur. Optional sunset stop at Nahargarh Fort for the city panorama.
- Taj Mahal at sunrise (peak light)
- Fatehpur Sikri (UNESCO) wander
- Nahargarh Fort sunset (optional)
The Pink City — Forts, Palaces, & Departure — Jaipur
Start with Amber Fort (8:30 AM, before the rush). Our jeep drops you at the second courtyard so you skip the 15-minute uphill walk. Inside, your guide will show you the Sheesh Mahal (hall of mirrors), the Ganesh Pol gate, and explain how this fort was the seat of Rajputana royalty for 600 years. Photo stops at Jal Mahal (the floating palace) and Hawa Mahal (the lattice-screened palace of winds). Lunch at a traditional Rajasthani thali restaurant. Afternoon: City Palace (still home to the royal family), Jantar Mantar observatory (UNESCO — the world's largest stone sundial), and Hawa Mahal up close. Late afternoon: drop at Jaipur airport for onward flight, or 4.5-hr drive back to Delhi (we'll do it in 5 hrs with a dinner stop).
- Amber Fort with jeep entry (skip the climb)
- City Palace royal apartments
- Jantar Mantar — world's largest stone sundial

Glimpses From The Journey
Your Questions, Answered
Is 4 days really enough for the Golden Triangle?
For most first-time travelers — yes. You'll see every major monument with breathing room. If you're a slow traveler or want to add Ranthambore tiger safari, take our 6-day version. If you're on a tighter window, the 3-day version works.
What's the difference between a 4-star and 5-star upgrade?
Our 4-star tier hotels are heritage properties with character — think hand-painted ceilings, courtyard pools, and 50-room boutiques. Our 5-star tier puts you in The Oberoi Amarvilas (Taj-view balcony rooms), Rambagh Palace (former royal residence), and The Imperial New Delhi. The 5-star upgrade is +$300 per person but it's the trip you'll write home about.
How early do we need to wake up?
Only one early start: Day 3's Taj sunrise (5 AM). Day 1 starts at 9 AM, Days 2 and 4 start at 8-8:30 AM. We deliberately avoid the 'wake up at 6 AM every day' grind that most group tours run.
Is the Taj Mahal worth the hype?
Yes — but only at sunrise or sunset. In harsh midday light, it's underwhelming and packed with tour groups. We always schedule sunrise on Day 3 specifically because of this. You'll spend ~3 hours there and leave with the right memories, not crowd photos.
Can we add a cooking class or yoga session?
Yes. Most travelers add a Mughlai cooking class in Agra ($45/person) or a sunrise yoga session at a Jaipur heritage hotel ($25/person). Just ask when booking.
What if I want to skip Fatehpur Sikri?
Totally fine — many travelers do. Skipping it gives you 2-3 extra hours in Jaipur. Tell your guide in the morning. No price change.
Is the driver same the whole trip?
Yes. One dedicated chauffeur from Day 1 to Day 4. He becomes part of the team — many of our travelers exchange WhatsApp numbers with their drivers and stay in touch for years.
Will we get sick from the food?
Statistically: maybe a 10-15% chance of mild stomach issues. We minimize this by booking only restaurants that we eat at ourselves and have hosted 500+ international travelers without incident. Bring Imodium just in case. Read our health & safety blog for details.
Do you arrange airport pickups?
Yes — included if your arrival/departure is in Delhi. Jaipur airport drop is also included. If you're flying via Mumbai or Goa, we'll arrange the connecting transport at cost.
Can I pay in installments?
Yes. 30% deposit confirms the booking. Balance is due 7 days before arrival. We accept USD, EUR, GBP, AUD via PayPal, Wise, or international bank transfer. INR via UPI.
