How far is Khatu Shyam from Jaipur?
The honest answer depends on where in Jaipur you start. Most of the distance figures you see online, anywhere from 65 to 100 km, are each measured from a different point in a city that is now 40 km wide.
The road is NH52, the Jaipur–Sikar highway, as far as Ringas, then a 17 km link road into Khatu. The highway part moves well. The slow bit is the last few kilometres into Khatu town, and on Ekadashi that stretch alone can take as long as the drive from Jaipur.
Bus, train or cab: which is best?
For one or two people with a small bag, the roadways bus is honestly fine and costs a fraction of a cab. For a family of four, the cab works out to about ₹900 a head for a door-to-door return with the car waiting outside. And on Ekadashi, when the sensible start is 4:30 in the morning, it is the only option that actually works.
Bus and train fares are approximate and change. Check RSRTC or IRCTC before you travel.
Khatu Shyam darshan cab fares 2026
Private AC car with driver, picked up anywhere in Jaipur. The same-day fare covers up to 12 hours and 220 km, including waiting during darshan. Fuel, tolls and driver included; GST 5% extra.
Going on to Salasar Balaji the same day? That is a different route and fare — see the Khatu Shyam and Salasar Balaji trip.
How a normal darshan day goes
This is the rhythm on an ordinary weekday. On Ekadashi, move every time two hours earlier and expect the queue to take most of the morning.
Pickup anywhere in Jaipur
Home, hotel, station or airport. On Ekadashi we move this to 4:30–5 AM.
Chai stop at Chomu (optional)
About 30 km out. Useful if you left without breakfast; skip it if you want to reach before the crowd.
Reach Khatu
The driver drops you at the nearest point the police allow that day, usually 300–600 metres from the temple, then parks and waits.
Darshan
One to two hours on a normal day, three to four on Ekadashi. Leave bags in the car and carry only your phone and prasad money.
Shyam Kund and prasad
The sacred kund is a short walk from the temple. Pick up prasad and a nishan from the shops on the way out if you want to take one home.
Head back, late breakfast at Ringas
Ringas has good dhabas right on the highway. Or tell the driver you want to go straight home.
Back in Jaipur
Dropped at your door. The same-day fare covers up to 12 hours, so there is plenty of slack for a slow queue.
Khatu Shyam temple timings
The temple opens early, closes for a few hours in the afternoon, and reopens in the evening. Summer hours generally run from April to September and winter hours from October to March.
When to go, and when to avoid
Calmest
Weekday mornings outside Ekadashi. Reach by 8 AM and darshan usually takes under an hour.
Ekadashi
The biggest day of every month, especially Shukla Paksha Ekadashi. Leave Jaipur by 4:30–5 AM; after 9 AM the queue can run past two or three hours.
Phalgun Mela
February–March, around Phalgun Shukla Ekadashi. Lakhs of devotees, many walking from Ringas with nishans. Private cars are stopped well outside town. Talk to us first; we plan these days differently.
Weather matters too. October to March is comfortable all day. From April to June the middle of the day is fierce, so do darshan early and be on the road home before noon.
Darshan tips from our drivers
- Leave bags locked in the car. Carry your phone, prasad money and nothing else.
- Leave your shoes in the car too. It saves a queue at the shoe stand on the way out.
- Travelling with elderly parents? Tell us in advance and the driver will drop you at the closest point allowed that day.
- Eat before you join the queue on Ekadashi. There is no stepping out once you are in.
- Agree a pickup point with the driver before you walk off. Phone signal near the temple is patchy on crowded days.
- Nishans and prasad are sold all along the lane to the temple, so there is no need to buy them in Jaipur.
Add Salasar Balaji the same day
Many families do Khatu Shyam and Salasar Balaji together. Salasar is about 105 km on from Khatu, so it becomes a 14–15 hour day: leave at 5 AM, Shyam Baba in the morning, Balaji by lunch, home by evening. From ₹7,000 by sedan, waiting at both temples included.

What is the best way to go from Jaipur to Khatu Shyam?
For one or two people travelling light, the RSRTC bus from Sindhi Camp is cheap and perfectly fine. For a family, elderly parents, or an early Ekadashi start, a private cab is far easier: it picks you up at home, drops you near the temple, waits during darshan and brings you back.
What is the Jaipur to Khatu Shyam taxi fare?
A same-day darshan round trip is ₹3,550 by AC sedan, with the cab waiting while you do darshan. One-way drops start at ₹2,250. Fuel, tolls and driver are included; GST 5% extra. Bigger cars are in the fare table above.
Is there a direct bus from Jaipur to Khatu Shyam?
Yes. RSRTC (Rajasthan Roadways) buses leave from Sindhi Camp bus stand from early morning, and private AC buses run through the day. The ride takes about 2.5 to 3.5 hours. Ordinary roadways fares are roughly ₹80–100. Check before boarding: some buses stop at Ringas on the highway, 17 km short of the temple.
Which is the nearest railway station to Khatu Shyam?

Timings change on Ekadashi and during the Phalgun Mela, when the temple often stays open through the night. Treat these as a guide and check the day’s notice before you leave.
Can we do Khatu Shyam darshan and come back to Jaipur the same day?
Easily. Leave around 6 AM, do darshan by 8:30 or 9, and you are back in Jaipur by lunchtime on a normal day. On Ekadashi leave by 4:30–5 AM, because the queue after 9 AM can run past two or three hours.
Can we add Salasar Balaji in the same trip?
Yes, it is the most popular combination. Salasar is about 105 km from Khatu, so both darshans plus the drive back make a 14–15 hour day. See our Khatu Shyam and Salasar Balaji trip, from ₹7,000 by sedan.
